Zelensky says China trying to undermine Ukraine peace summit

The recent attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, has left up to nine people dead and dozens injured, with a children’s hospital reduced to rubble by a Russian hypersonic missile barrage. Ukrainian officials have described the attack as “genocidal” and “terrorism” carried out by “Russian terrorists.”

President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, condemned the attack as genocide, emphasizing the need for the world to respond to such atrocities. The Russian army has reportedly used over 100 deadly glide bombs in the past 24 hours, intensifying the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

The attack on the children’s hospital in Kyiv has drawn international condemnation, with the UK’s ambassador to Ukraine calling it “barbaric.” The UK has pledged to provide additional support to Ukraine in the form of artillery guns, ammunition, and missiles.

Meanwhile, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban is set to participate in a NATO summit in Washington after discussing a Chinese peace plan for Ukraine in Beijing. China and Belarus have also held joint military drills on the Polish border, raising concerns about escalating tensions in the region.
