Explosions rock Lebanon: Anger and fear on the streets
The streets of Lebanon are filled with raw anger and real fear after two days of multiple explosions involving communication devices. Less than 24 hours after a major emergency left a dozen people dead and nearly 3,000 injured, panic and chaos struck again.
The latest explosions involved two-way radios primarily used by Hezbollah operatives, security personnel, and supporters. Some of the explosions occurred at funerals for those killed in the previous wave of explosions involving pagers.
Thousands gathered in Beirut to mourn the four individuals killed in the pager explosions, including a young boy. However, as the funerals began, another explosion rocked the area, causing panic and screams among the mourners.
Hezbollah officials were seen removing hand-held radios from the area, with their batteries removed. Filming of the events was restricted by aggressive men in black clothing, believed to be Hezbollah officials or supporters.
The situation on the ground is tense, with anxiety turning into anger. The full report by special correspondent Alex Crawford provides more details on the unfolding events in Lebanon.
