Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Sets World Record at U.S. Olympic Trials

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone stole the show on the final day of the U.S. Olympic trials for track and field at Hayward Field in Eugene. In the women’s 400-meter hurdles final, McLaughlin-Levrone set a new world record of 50.65 seconds, breaking her own mark of 50.68 set two years ago. Rai Benjamin dominated the men’s 400 hurdles, winning in a meet record time of 46.46 seconds.

Nikki Hiltz secured her second consecutive national title in the women’s 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 3 minutes, 55.33 seconds. Masai Russell set a meet record in the women’s 100 hurdles final, crossing the line in 12.25 seconds.

Grant Fisher claimed his second gold of the trials in the men’s 5,000 final, finishing just ahead of Abdihamid Nur. The day was filled with action and medals, including a farewell from javelin stalwart Kara Winger.
