Details and Motions in the Jason Susuico Murder Case: Defense Attorney and Prosecutor Offer Insights

The Jason Susuico murder case continues to unfold with new details emerging from motions filed by a defense attorney and a reply from the government prosecutor. Five defendants are facing multiple felony charges in connection to Susuico’s death, which was determined to be caused by blunt force trauma.

The case took a turn when Cynthia Rose Quinata was charged with aggravated murder in July 2023, following the discovery of Susuico’s decomposing body in Yigo earlier that year. Other arrests followed, including Brandon Rufus Chandler, Jason Keith Manibusan, and Jordan Michael Babauta. A fifth suspect, Gregory Reese, has severed his case from the others.

A motion to disqualify prosecutor Sean Brown has been filed by defense attorney William Gavras, who raised concerns about a potential conflict of interest. Gavras pointed out that Cheryl Susuico, the victim’s widow, was the beneficiary of a $250,000 life insurance policy on her estranged husband and had a relationship with Reese, the alleged mastermind behind the murder.

Brown, however, defended his position, stating that he is privy to information related to the case as a prosecutor and not as Cheryl Susuico’s former attorney. He maintained that Cheryl Susuico is not a suspect in the case and is considered a victim in the loss of her husband.

The Superior Court Judge Arthur R. Barcinas is currently reviewing all motions and arguments and is expected to make a decision soon. The case continues to unravel with twists and turns, shedding light on the complexities surrounding the tragic death of Jason Susuico.
