Bill Belichick Takes Shot at New York Jets While Discussing Sam Darnold’s Success
Legendary New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick couldn’t resist taking a shot at the New York Jets while discussing the success of Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings on the Pat McAfee Show. Belichick remarked, “Everybody has liked Darnold except the Jets.”
Darnold has been on fire for the Vikings in the early stages of the 2024 season, throwing for 657 yards, eight touchdowns, and a couple of interceptions while leading Minnesota to a perfect 3-0 start. This success comes after Darnold struggled to find consistency during his time with the Jets, Panthers, and 49ers.
Despite his lackluster performances in previous seasons, Darnold has finally started to generate buzz in 2024, thanks in part to his connection with star receiver Justin Jefferson. It remains to be seen if Darnold can maintain his level of play as the season progresses.
Belichick’s comments serve as a reminder of the Jets’ struggles with evaluating talent, but Darnold’s resurgence with the Vikings proves that sometimes a change of scenery can make all the difference. Stay tuned to New England Patriots on SI for the latest updates on Darnold and the rest of the NFL.
