Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a crucial visit to the United States this week, where he will participate in the Quad Summit and engage in bilateral meetings with world leaders. The agenda for the visit includes discussions on new initiatives by the Quad to ensure peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific, as well as addressing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

Modi will kick off his visit by attending the Quad Summit in Delaware, where he will meet with US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japan’s Premier Fumio Kishida. The leaders will focus on pressing global challenges such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, tensions in West Asia, and the situation in the Indo-Pacific.

Following the Quad Summit, Modi will travel to New York to interact with the Indian diaspora and participate in the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly. The discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including health security, climate change, emerging technologies, infrastructure, connectivity, maritime security, counterterrorism, and humanitarian assistance.

During the bilateral meeting with Biden, India will join two pillars of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity and sign a memorandum of understanding on a drug framework. The leaders will also discuss the trade pillar of the IPEF and explore opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.

The visit will also see the launch of the Cancer Moonshot initiative by the Quad partners to combat cancer in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, Modi will outline India’s priorities at the Summit of the Future, emphasizing inclusive and sustainable development, South-South cooperation, and addressing the concerns of the Global South.

Overall, Modi’s visit to the US is expected to strengthen ties with key partners, address critical global issues, and showcase India’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
