In a thrilling showdown at the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night, Jonquel Jones proved to be the star of the show as Team WNBA emerged victorious over the United States’ women’s national team with a final score of 117-109.
Fresh off a strong performance in the 3-Point Contest the night before, Jones showcased her all-around skills with six points, five assists, and seven rebounds, leading all Team WNBA starters. Her fellow New Yorker Breanna Stewart put up an impressive 31 points for Team USA, but it was Arike Ogunbowale who stole the spotlight with a remarkable 34-point performance, earning her the game’s MVP award.
Touted rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark also made their mark on the game, with Reese recording a double-double and Clark setting a rookie record with 10 assists. Despite the loss, Stewart set a Liberty record for most points in a single All-Star Game, surpassing the previous mark held by Sabrina Ionescu and Tina Charles.
