Former Brexit Party Candidate Accused of Islamophobia in 2019 Running for Reform UK Under Different Name

In a surprising turn of events, a former Brexit Party candidate accused of Islamophobia in 2019 is now running for Reform UK under a different name. Dionne Moore Cocozza, now running as Dionne Moore, is seeking election in Glasgow West, using her middle name as a surname to distance herself from past controversies.

During the 2019 election, Ms. Cocozza, then known as Dionne Cocozza, faced scrutiny after reports surfaced regarding her social media activity. She was found to have made inflammatory remarks, including claims that Muslims were seeking to implement Sharia law and accusations of racism against Labour’s David Lammy.

Despite the controversy surrounding her previous candidacy, Reform UK’s regional manager for Scotland confirmed that Dionne Moore is indeed the same person who ran in 2019. The party has expressed frustration with the vetting process for candidates, with Chairman Richard Tice stating that the firm they hired failed to deliver on promises to thoroughly investigate candidates’ social media history.

In addition to Dionne Moore, other candidates running in Glasgow West include representatives from the Liberal Democrats, Christian Party, Labour, Conservative, SNP, and Scottish Greens. The upcoming election in Glasgow West is sure to be closely watched, with the spotlight on Dionne Moore’s bid for office under a new name.
