Breaking News: Ongoing Conflict between Israel and Hamas, Israeli Hostage Rescue Turns Deadly, Gantz Resigns from Government

CNN Report on Gaza Conflict: Deadliest Day Since December

The recent events in Gaza have left the world in shock as the death toll continues to rise. Saturday marked Gaza’s deadliest single day since mid-December, with 283 people killed, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. This brings the total death toll during the current war in Gaza to a staggering 37,084.

The majority of those killed on Saturday lost their lives during a surprise operation by the Israel Defense Forces to rescue four Israeli hostages in Nuseirat, central Gaza. The raid resulted in 274 Palestinians being killed and 698 injured, as reported by the Gaza Ministry of Health. However, the IDF has disputed these numbers, claiming the casualties from the operation were fewer than 100.

The health ministry does not differentiate between civilian casualties and Hamas fighters, making it difficult to verify the accuracy of the casualty figures. The lack of international media access to Gaza further complicates the situation.

Palestinian civilians have described the scene in central Gaza as “hell on earth” during the Israeli operation. Disturbing footage showed bloodied children being rushed into overcrowded emergency rooms after the attack.

In addition to the casualties from the rescue operation, nine more people were killed and 116 injured elsewhere in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, according to the health ministry. This marks the deadliest day in Gaza since December 10, when nearly 300 people were killed.

The United States administration, which assisted with intelligence gathering for the operation, acknowledged the civilian deaths in the attack. National security adviser Jake Sullivan expressed sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and emphasized the need for further investigation into the incident.

As the situation in Gaza continues to escalate, the world watches with bated breath for any developments or efforts towards peace and resolution.
