Asia Pacific Internet Community Discusses Cybersecurity at APAC DNS Forum 2024
The Asia Pacific Internet community gathered at the Asia Pacific Domain Name System (APAC DNS) Forum 2024 in Nusa Dua, Bali today, July 23, to discuss various topics, including cybersecurity. This event holds particular significance following the recent hacking of the Indonesian government’s Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2.
John Simanjuntak, chairman of the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Management (PANDI), highlighted the importance of addressing security issues in the wake of the PDNS hacking. He emphasized the need for collaboration among Internet stakeholders to ensure the security and sustainability of future Internet operations.
Sally Costerton, Interim President and CEO of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), stressed the importance of finding solutions to challenges in the domain name and security industry. She underscored the critical role of coordinating technical infrastructure elements to protect the Internet.
Hario Kuntarto, head of the digital economy, gaming, and artificial intelligence governance team at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, emphasized the importance of public understanding in supporting cybersecurity efforts. He highlighted the need to enhance the community’s capacity in understanding digital technologies and policy instruments.
