Cathay Pacific to Launch Direct Flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in October 2024

Cathay Pacific, one of the leading airlines in Asia, has announced the launch of direct passenger flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting from October 28, 2024. This new route is set to enhance connectivity, trade, and cultural exchange with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Lam Sai-hung, expressed his excitement about the cooperation agreement, stating that it marks a significant milestone in the aviation partnership between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia, which has been flourishing for almost two decades.

The Consul General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Hong Kong, Hamad Aljebreen, also welcomed the inauguration of the new route, emphasizing its importance in improving relations, building bridges of communication and cooperation, and strengthening economic, tourism, and cultural ties between the two regions.

Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Lam, highlighted the benefits of the new service, stating that it will offer more travel options and greater convenience for customers traveling to and from Saudi Arabia. He also mentioned that the route will promote opportunities for business, trade, and tourism.

Saudi Air Connectivity Program Chief Executive Officer, Majid Khan, expressed his enthusiasm for the direct flights between Hong Kong and Riyadh, stating that it will further strengthen air connectivity to Saudi Arabia from key source markets. He also mentioned that travellers from Cathay Pacific’s network will have the opportunity to explore Saudi Arabia’s vast tourism potential.

Cathay Pacific will operate three return flights per week between Hong Kong and Riyadh using its modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft, featuring Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins. The flight schedule for the service is as follows (all times local, subject to regulatory approval):
