Celebrating Home at Jade: A PNW Bar

Introducing Jade: The Cozy Pacific Northwest-Themed Bar in Spokane

Nestled between the vibrant music scene at the Knitting Factory and the lively atmosphere of The District Bar, a new gem has emerged in Spokane. Jade, a Pacific Northwest-focused “microbar,” opened its doors this September, offering a cozy and relaxed space for patrons to unwind and enjoy a taste of home.

Co-owned by Aaron Andreson, the food and beverage director for The Knitting Factory, and Roman Bobrovnikov, The District’s bar lead, Jade exudes a comfortable and casual living room vibe. The owners, both avid outdoor enthusiasts with a love for the Pacific Northwest, have curated a selection of spirits, cider, and beer from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho to celebrate the region’s flavors.

“We’re shooting for a very comfortable, casual living room vibe,” says Andreson.

The bar features a variety of Pacific Northwest-based spirits, including whiskey from The Distillarium in Yakima and spirits from Monson Ranch Distillers in Prosser. While Jade offers a brief cocktail menu with seasonal favorites, it also boasts a selection of local brews and familiar brands to ensure everyone feels at home.

One of the standout features of Jade is its unique decor, which pays homage to the owners’ love for the outdoors. The bar top, custom-made by Andreson and Bobrovnikov, represents the Spokane River’s channel from Riverfront Park to TJ Meenach Bridge. Additionally, the coffee tables feature handmade insets of the owners’ favorite camping spots, adding a personal touch to the space.

Formerly a coffee shop called Rock Coffee, the space that now houses Jade has been transformed into a cozy oasis filled with real plants and comfortable furnishings. The bar gets its name from a Jade plant in the corner, which serves as the unofficial mascot of the establishment.

With a capacity of just 49 people, Jade is aptly described as a “microbar,” offering intimate and inviting vibes reminiscent of other small-scale establishments in the area. While the bar does not have a kitchen, guests are welcome to bring in food from nearby restaurants, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among local businesses.

As Andreson and Bobrovnikov continue to build Jade into their own personal living room, they aim to create a welcoming space where everyone can feel at ease. So, the next time you’re looking for a cozy spot to unwind after a concert, Jade may just be the perfect destination to feel right at home.
