Pacific Highlands Ranch Library to open in October

Excitement Builds as Pacific Highlands Ranch Library Nears Completion

The highly anticipated new Pacific Highlands Ranch Library is nearing completion, with construction projected to finish by the end of August and the grand opening scheduled for October. The 18,000 square foot library, larger than the Carmel Valley branch, promises to be a model for future libraries in San Diego.

Featuring a community meeting room, private study rooms, a teen library with a maker space, and outdoor courtyards for children and community activities, the new library is designed to meet the diverse needs of its patrons. The library will also showcase a public art installation by San Diego artist Janelle Iglesias, celebrating the languages of the land’s inhabitants.

With a large teen population in the area, concerns about security were raised during a recent planning board meeting. While security staffing is not currently planned, library staff are prepared to address any issues that may arise, especially with the proximity of schools like Canyon Crest Academy and Pacific Trails Middle.

As the opening date approaches, the library is actively seeking volunteers to join the Friends of the PHR Library organization. Branch Manager William Mallory emphasized the importance of volunteers in running the library successfully, encouraging community members to get involved.

The new Pacific Highlands Ranch Library is set to be a vibrant hub for the community, offering a wide range of resources and programs for all ages. Stay tuned for more updates as the library prepares to open its doors to the public in October.
